    DefaultEmergency kit, what's in it?

Felicia referenced my thread and now I'm referencing hers. ;D

What a great idea to have an emergency kit for your dog! I never even thought of it before. I want to start one, beginning with benedryl, and include dosages for everything.

So. Do you have a kit? If so, what's in it? Looking for ideas here.

Funny you mention this, I just said to Husband earlier that we need a kit for Pitch. After reading all your posts, I need stuff like Hydrogen Peroxide, Bendryl, and bandages I presume.

    Hi Amy!

Our home kit (housed in a large Tupperware tote and labelled) has:
    Purell hand sanitizer
    antiseptic wash
    saline solution
Polysporin (Cdn version of your Neosporin)
    EMT gel
bum thermometer and vaseline (never had to use this... yet)
    Q tips
    gauze, tape
    vet wrap
    tweezers
pediatric electrolyte solution (or, alternatively, gatorade)
Benadryl for bee/wasp stings (1-2 mg/lb body weight, or 50-75mg twice daily)
Phazyme Extra Strength (simethicone) for anti-bloat (250 mg ASAP and proceed to emerg vet)
hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting (1 tsp/10 lbs every 15-30 min x 3)
a copy of The Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook (James Giffin)
phone numbers for Henry's vet and emerg vet

Our travel first aid kit is pared down considerably and has:
    Purell hand sanitizer
    antiseptic wash
    gauze, vet wrap
    Polysporin
    hydrogen peroxide (and dispenser)
    tweezers
Benadryl and Phazyme in blister packs
phone numbers for Henry's vet and emerg vet

Curious to see what others have!

What is that stuff you use to stop a toenail bleeding....probably should include one of those too. I have heard you can use baking soda and a bar of soap too. Keep the list growing...before weeks end I will my emergency kit made.

We have an earthquake kit that contains most of the same stuff that DFWLab listed. Felicia's first-aid kit is more extensive than ours, though, so it looks like we'll be upgrading. Thanks, Felicia!

P.S. The stuff you use to stop bleeding is styptic.
