Do you pick the name or the breeder? In N.Z. it is called the kennel name so hope got it right.
Here in N.Z. the breeder does. Kassa was Roughfields (the breeder) Once Upon a Dream.
Ernie is Roughfields Follow Your Dream.
Henry's breeder's only stipulation was that his registered name would have to start with J, as his was the J litter. So, Henery is, Gorsebrook Jackson Triggs.
It depends on the breeder. Some want you to use their kennel name as prefix or have a theme for the litter, others, like Caleb's breeder, put no requirements whatso ever on their puppy buyers.
We had to pick a Japenese Green Tea name for a theme - "ENVY" and I added Green with .... and of course the kennel name had to be present...so Rowan is
Eagertrieves Green with Envy
In N.Z. it is the breeder who registers the dogs with the N.Z.K.C. who then send the owner the papers. That is if they come with papers.
All we had to do was keep the breeder's name in there somewhere...
That is the same as Australia. Pure breed dogs come with their kennel name already, there's no picking it yourself!Originally Posted by kassabella

Some US breeders are doing this now too. They give their buyers a list of name and they have to choose one. I don't choose the names for my people but they must use my kennel name and I send the papers in to AKC
