When i first saw Laika on the website: www.retrieverrescue.nl she seems not be a verry happy dog, and if i read the papers who came with her, it was a verry frustrated Labrador Retriever and not seems to be a happy one :-\
As i speak now, i'am the 4th owner of Laika, a short brief history:
- 0 till 10 months in a Belgium backyard, all on her own
- 10 till ?! in a Belgium animal shelter
- ?? till 18 months of age (+/-) at a family in the Netherlands who couldnt handle Laika
- and last but not least, at the last family she spent a full month in a dog-school for training her on bad behaviour, because she wasnt educated and she was a verry frustrated dog (i also should be frustraded if i spent 10 months in a backyard on my own)
And after that little story i became her new owner (and the final one!) 8)
She looks verry un-happy on the first picture's i've took from her:

She just looks a bit scared on that last picture if you asked me, scared on what kind of things she's going to expierience by her 4th owner :-X
But as evry thing in life, you must give it some time i gues

Well, what we have accomplished with her, is that she almost fineshed all her hunting diploma's (she's bussy with the second one, and one still to do after that). And Laika is also on the moment as we speak a example on the local dog-shelter in town as a: "unlucky bastard till a respectfull hunting dog) that last thing come's because they've asked me to start giving lessons in obedience
"And whould you do it again, with such a trauma dog" is what people always asked to me .. and the simple answer is YES! .. No dog in a rescue shelter is hopeless one ...
What a great success story! I'm so glad you and Laika found each other!
What a beautiful happy girl she is now, with her forever family that took the time. Thank you for such a happy ending.

I think you were meant to be together
Thanks for sharing your story about Laika.
She looks so much happier now; you've given her the great forever home she's needed.
So! I thought your story was a great dog, and a great photographer owner.
Wow! There is so much more to your story. This world needs more people like you and more dogs like Laika.
I have another question, stimulated by the thread on dog names. Does Laika mean something in English?
Hershey Kisses, In charge of getting Ed out to the dog park so that he gets some exercise.
I understand! I understand! Right moment in time for both of you.
