I don't know how this Mr. Perfect guy of mine does it. I haven't written about this before because I though eventually it would pass. It has not.
Whenever we do retrieves in the evening, Seamus and Flynn go "all the way back" for the retrieve. Both set themselves up for it. I usually nominate "this one's for Seamus!" or "this one's for Flynn". They have a dog's respect for that, whatever a dog's "respect" may be.
The thing is, my border collie loves to hump Seamus when he is all set for the retrieve. Shea pays no mind to him. I call out "Rusty! Get OFF!" No joy. So I throw the ball... "This one's for Seamus!" and if he has to run after a badly thrown ball to make his retrieve, he just does it... with the border collie trailing along on his rump. It's as if he doesn't even know that border collie is there. It's an even greater victory when Shea catches that ball right off and leaves the b/c trailing after him... in the dirt.
I love that boy of mine.
Shoot... I just love dog life!
Seamus and Flynn
lol poor Seamus! I can just picture him trying to focus on his retrieve with a pesky BC on his rump!
that's funny about the humping.... I can't believe it doesn't bother him !! Sherman HATES it if Bosley tries to do that.....
I think "dog life" is pretty awesome too.
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
Poor Seamus. Just goes to show you how sweet labs are. They won't even defend themselves. ;D
