DefaultOur AWESOME weekend....lots of pics! (Part 3)

She really did well. To be honest, she was the best one there this weekend! She needed less instruction and less corrections than any of the dogs.

I was so proud of my girl!!!!!

Actually, the part we worked the hardest on was her coming nicely to the line and waiting. She's so used to dock diving and being anxious and all ramped up to get up on the dock.

But in field work, it's all about being under control and showing proper restraint.

Finally, she got it. Here we are waiting at the line:

And of course, since this was field work, we were out in the wild....definitely an advantage for men over women. No bathrooms....only portapotties! YUCK!

But Sally and I had an awesome weekend. Both of us enjoyed ourselves so very much. I can honestly say, it puts a whole new perspective on Lab ownership when you see them doing what they were born to do.

That's awesome, Sally is the perfect spokesdog for the breed--versatile, just as a lab should be!
I love the white patch on her chest!

I really hadn't thought about that, but it is true. Most of the field labs you see are black or yellow. This particular trainer is also a flat coat retriever breeder, so she had some of her dogs out there showing us "how it is done." Again, not to brag, but my chocolate was doing as good or at times better than some of her flat coats that have been training for a while. (Not her completely trained dogs, however. They were AWESOME!) But after seeing what Sally did with only minimal instruction, I'll never believe anyone who says chocolates aren't as good in the field!

Wow! Thank you. I consider that one of the best compliments Sally's ever received.

Thank you. I love that white patch also. A lot of people told us when she was a puppy that the white patch would disappear or get very thin. I'm glad it stayed. I call it her "scratchin' spot" because she loves to be gentle scratched there.
