    DefaultFirst "Non routine" vet visit...

The good news is it's nothing real serious. Caleb has an infection in both ears. Within in an hour of leaving the office, his ears were already looking better. Poor pupper! We're at the beginning of a mini heat wave, and he can't even play in his pool. He was great at the vet's, tho. He washed Doc's face, and tryed to "help" Doc weigh him. He had Doc laughing when he was digging at the stainless steel table top like he was splashing in a waterbowl. He's such a nut!

Oh, and Doc thought Caleb is a little chubby. Not chubby enough to go nuts about- once we get back to our practice sessions he should lose it. Never thought he'd be saying one of my critters was chubby, tho (don't think he did either)! LOL

We just got back from the vet with Aidan...same thing...infected ear from swimming. I don't know how I am going to keep him out of the pool. HE loves it.
Also got refills on their tick meds, and interceptor. 300$

I hope Caleb's ears clear up soon so he can swim soon.

Ugh--we have some ear wash and stuff that helps dry them out--otherwise Willow has the same issue. This stuff, if I use it right after swimming seems to help a lot.

He's on Beta-Gen Otic Solution. It works wonders! Within an hour of leaving the vet's office his ears looked better already. I showed Doc the purple ear wash stuff, too. He didn't say it would hurt, just that it's an real old remedy, and there is better stuff available now. I came home with a bottle of Nolvasan ear cleaner. The bottle I had home was pretty old, so maybe that's why it wasn't working as well as the purple stuff. Anyhoo- the little Stink Pot is feeling much better this morning than he was yesterday at this time.

Oh, and he hasn't been in his pool in a couple of weeks. Hopefully this is a one time thing.

I think that's the stuff I have for Frankie, Sue. Is it like a goo stuff that you squirt in and then massage the ears?

I used Otomax for Mick's ear infections. Until I switched his food, he got them often enough that I just had to say he had one & I took Otomax home with me. That stuff made a mess, but, boy, did it work! The Beta-Gen is a thinner than Otomax, but not as thin as the ear cleaners. I actually have it in the fridge because of how hot it is (much warmer than the suggested temps to store it in).
