this article reminds me of a quote:
"Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for your kindness than mine." ~ your dog

"Properly trained, a man can be dog's best friend." ~ Corey Ford

This reminds me of when my daughter was in 3rd grade. One day they were learning about dogs, how to behave around dogs, and to not approach strange dogs, etc. The teacher told the students that dogs are not capable of human feelings such as love, sorrow, etc. My daughter raised her hand and said, excuse me, but my dog definitely has feelings like love and sadness so you are WRONG. This teacher actually ended up in a debate with my daughter (stupid move on her part ;D), and got so frustrated that my daughtr wouldn't back down that she sent her to the principal's office! I was so proud of her that day for a few reasons.....standing up for what she believed especially at such a young age, and for loving our dog enough to recognize that dogs truly have feelings and give them back to us ten-fold. She'd probably make a great lawyer :P.

I think dogs are what humans were supposed to be.

I believe that a dogís love is pure. If you treat your dog well he will protect you guard you and love you.

When I sit on my couch at night Willow has to be right by my side and she will just stare at me with her big brown eyes until I pat her then she will drift off to asleep. Itís about as calm and a 1 year old lab can get.

If I go to another room she follows me and will lay by my feet. If this isnít love I donít know what is.

All I have to do to earn it is feed her give her plenty of water a bone or two and just keep throwing that dam tennis ball. ;D

I always remind my husband that while our dogs certainly love him, they are IN love with me!

Ha, that's what I tell my husband as well, when he says "Riley loves me best" ...... I say maybe so, but she's "in love with me best!"
