Boo and I just joined the forum last week. I've really enjoyed reading everyones stories and seeing so many great pictures. I thought that now was a good time to tell everyone a little bit more about my pup and share some pictures:
So I know that labs are supposed to be bird dogs, but Boo is a purebred fishing dog. My husband and I live in Florida and Boo goes fishing with us in the Gulf almost every weekend. He loves the water and has jumped off our boat at inopportune times before (onto another boat, into the mud), but nothing like today!
This morning, Brian hooked up with an exceptionally big trout and Boo jumped into the water and swam about 25 yards after it! Luckily, we got both the fish and the dog back to the boat safely. The next cast, I hook up with a smaller trout. Guess who was back in the water! He didn't chase anymore fish after that, but he did lick every single trout that we caught. That's typical. He wound up with tons of slime and scales on his face.
Even when we aren't catching much I don't get bored when Boo's on the boat!
Getting help back into the boat.
Thanks for the treat!

awww thats adorable! Ill bet he can catch more fish than his human daddy can!!! ;D
Too funny. Besides they're retrievers aren't they? Doesn't say what they have to retrieve.

Ah yes. I guess I didn't think of it that way. I suppose he just has more experience retrieving fish than birds :Sounds like a bird dog to me.... a true water dog. A Lab.

Where in Florida do you live? We live in Sarasotsa on the Gulf and take our labs on the boat all the time...
Welcome from WI; thanks for sharing your story & pics!! Too funny; a true water dog though.
Here's our fishing dog, Maggie. We have retreived her out of the ocean a couple of times and out of the lake many, many times. She loves albacore! She is not afraid of whales either.
