    DefaultHelp with Abby...please?

We took the girls swimming yesterday and all was fine. On one of the retrieves out into the water Molly landed on top of Abby and she was under the water for probably about 10 seconds (15 at most), she came up...got her ball and was fine. Then last night she started hacking/heaving but there is nothing coming up. She is eating/drinking fine. She has gone to the bathroom but is semi-lethargic. She only seems to start the hack/ dry heave when she gets excited and goes to breathe through her mouth (ie: if she opens her mouth even to bark she starts to hack/dry heave)

What could be wrong? Should I be extremely concerned? Anything I can give her?

I'm sorry Stacey. No advice here. Maybe she just swallowed a good amount of water and it irritated her lungs a bit? If you're worried call the vet and at least ask their opinion.

And I'm glad to hear Abby didn't miss a beat retrieving that ball even though her sister was trying to drown her! LOL!

Haha of course not!! If she had, then I would have been extremely concerned :P

We put in a call to our vet at home and we're waiting on a call back

Keep an eye on her. I wouldn't give her any cough meds or anything like that right now. If she continues tomorrow or if she gets worse, then she should be seen by a vet.

I wonder if she maybe got a bit of water in her lungs? Hopefully your vet calls back soon.

    Thanks Laura

That's exactly what our vet said when he called back. He said if she gets worse throughout the day or is worse tomorrow then we should take her into our vet down here.

She wanted to play ball when I took the girls out to potty so that made me smile She was very angry when I kept her leash on and made her down/stay beside me
