Pro and Cons of each?
I am getting tired of being pulled by our 5 1/2 mo. pup. It hurts.
See "Our Best Advice" in the puppy section.
I have both The Gentle Leader stays on better Mocha has been able to remove the Halti you do clip it to their regular collar but it's a small clip and I just don't trust it. I would go with the GL out of the two. I use a Easy Walk Harness for Mocha now which is also pretty effective and people are not always asking me why she has a muzzle on.
I say Halti. I've used both and it's less intrusive on the nose.
I agree with Dweck though, in that you really should try loose-leash training before bringing in tools... otherwise you'll likely be reliant on tools forever, and that stinks.  :-\
Baloo - 5 year old black lab
Peanut - 7 year old minpin
Monster - 3-ish year old frenchie/jack, rescue
I have both. I think the GL works better but I find that it can cause problem with the top of their noses. So I find that I use the Halti more.
Neither. Sensation harness for when loose leash walking needs some reinforcing.
Hi there. I have never tried a Halti. But, I didn't like the gentle leader at all. Didn't matter to RAnger how much it pulled on his nose. If he had somewhere to go, he went no matter how much it pulled. But, I have a friend with a Lab and a small dog and they work great for both of them. I also didn't like the marks it left on his face from pulling.
I used a harness with Paddy when he was about 1 year - 18 months. He's a big strapping lad and I hadn't a clue about any sort of lead training back then. The harness was a godsend to me. I've learned some training technique since then. Check out the "loose leash" training post. It's your best bet in the long run.
Seamus and Flynn
Neither. Use the Gentle Leader's "EASY WALK"
Much more acceptable to the dog.

Thanks! I'll look into the harnesses as well.
