I took Gus in this morning for his 1st recheck (we are 4 weeks post TPLO). He walked in with a typical lab wiggle and immediately made friends with a Corgi in the waiting room. I was happy about that because I thought he might be scared since the last time he was there it was for his surgery. Dr. Lew says that he is healing just as he should be and gave permission for him to start some short walks. He is going to be a happy boy this afternoon when I actually take him up the street a little ways instead of making him walk around in our yard. You may remember that he actually tore both legs and we have scheduled the surgery on the right for July 11. We decided to let him heal enough to have a little bit of summer fun before the next go round.
Good news !! I bet he will LOVE the walk ! Good thinking on letting him have a little bit of summer fun before the next round of surgery......
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
Thanks for thinking of Gus. He was so excited when he realized he was actually going to leave the yard today. I just took him down to the end of the street and back, but he had a blast checking everything out. When I turned around to come back home he came me that look of disbelief, you know the one, "Mom.....", but he didn't try to disobey. I was pretty happy about his walk myself since it means he is making good progress in his recovery.
