He made a new friend yesterday morning. Brought him straight into the house just before it became light out.
I thought it was a mass of dirty tennis ball or nasty clumped up soft soft toy. It was about the size of a regulation soft ball.
He pawed it around the living room, tried to pick it up in his mouth again, but then the beagles got curious and shuffled it to the other side of the room. I went to investigate (expecting to hurk at what I would find).
Well helloooooooo, Mr. Box Turtle! How do you dooooo? Mr. T was all pulled inside his shell and, frankly, I didn't know whether or not he was still alive. So I took him outside and put him on the grass outside the fence. About 20 minutes later all the dogs were going CRAZY with barking, Megan making her mothering-nurturing-longing barks because....
... Mr. T was strolling at a snail's pace (I realize Mr. T would resent that analogy) across the cement of the driveway. Meg wanted to save him, Flynn was bouncing around wanted to play soccer with him.
So, I'm happy to report he was alive and well and DH took him to the neighbor's yard later in the day where he would be out of reach of any dog contempt or curiosity.
Flynn *shrugged* and went to play pawsies with Seamus.
Seamus and Flynn
Aw Flynn! Great story too!
This made me LOL. At least Flynn didn't go "CRUNCH, CRUNCH" while Mr. Turtle was in his mouth.Flynn was bouncing around wanted to play soccer with him.

We have desert tortises and Cinnamon barks at them also.
You took away Flynn's new buddy?
(now remind me what you did to the others you had...I think it was you. Gosh, my memory is going downhill) :-\
Linda and Zoë, the Umlaut
;D You should have taken pictures.
Awwww you silly boy...... but Mama spoiled your fun !
Ours are finding big toads here........ we too have to place them in a "safe" place away from the dogs. They are all SO intrigued by them ! If they pick them up, the toad pees on them ..... yuck! that doesn't taste good !
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
That is quite funny. Poor Mr. Turtie
