DefaultSome Clarification On Tankie and His Cancer

I noticed that a few people thought that Tank's cancer (hemangiosarcoma) is gone. As far as we know it is not gone. This type of cancer is non-curable. For some reason it has not metastasized anywhere yet. Now, saying that, this is very unusual as dogs with this normally succomb to another tumor from 2-3 months of diagnosis. Tank's diagnosis was the first week of January when they removed his spleen which had a tumor on it that was actively bleeding. These tumors form like blood vessels that have very weak walls and the vessels will rupture and bleed and if they do not stop will kill the animal of course. Bleeds can occur and stop many times before they succomb to a final bleed. They are amazed that Tank has not had another tumor yet. Now, if there was a mistake in the pathology of the tumor that removed - that might be a possibility but I would doubt it. Right now every day is miracle and we will hope this miracle contines for as long as it can. I hope this makes sense. When he was in yesterday they did check to see if he was bleeding from a tumor as this might cause his episode but all indications form blood work and his blood pressure said no it was not a bleed of a tumor.

Right now every day is miracle
It truly is Sandie, it truly is. Someone up there is watching over you guys.

When Tango's spleen was removed, it had already metastized to his liver.

Sandie, miracles do happen. We will keep praying that Tank stays healthy and another tumor never materializes. Keep the faith, even if it is the size of a mustard seed.
