DefaultBlack in mouth supposed to mean better dog??

I've been wondering about this. My aunt has always sworn by this, in fact, when we picked up Madison she had checked in the roof of Madison's mouth and said "yep, she's a good one." ??? Sarah's is more grayish than black, but so far she's just fine.

I've also had some one tell me I should spit into my dogs mouth so she'd always be mine. :-X Umm.... I wouldn't want anyone spitting in my mouth, I'm not spitting in my dogs. :-X

Anyone else heard of things like this? I'm just wondering if it's old wives tales or what....?

I vote for old wives tale. I have never actually checked the roof of Tal's mouth only his gums occasionally and of course his ears. I am by this like the color of the coat...has nothing to do with predicting their temperament.

Spitting in her mouth only works if you also scent mark her food bowl. :P

Where do people get these ideas?

lol That's a good one. I've never heard that one before.

But hey my Grandfather never paid to have a dog de-wormed. He soaked pennies in vinegar over night, poured it down the dog's throat the next day and it dewormed the dog immediately lol

I've also heard the point headed labs are smarter than flat-headed ones :

Buddy's got black birth marks(?? )on his tongue. Does that mean anything? Well, other than growing more lipomas than fur, two major rear leg surgeries, 2 root canals.....................................

and of course doberman's skulls explode when they reach maturity since their brains are too big for their narrow heads.

I've heard some pretty strange old wives' dog tales over the years but that's a new one to me. ROFLOL!
