Boo and I went and had a lot of fun this weekend and it is only half over
Saturday was swimming in the reservoir... such a happy puppy..
And then today was playing in the park with all the other dogs... first Charlie, that huge lab that I mentioned a few weeks ago. Hard to believe that he will not turn one until June and already around 130lbs according to his owner. (for a bit of size comparison Boo weighed in at a touch over 50lbs on the 18th.)
Then some rolling in the grass with her very best friend Typhoon, a beautiful Italian mastiff.
And the end result of all this?...
sleeping in a sunbeam of course :
Boo is just adorable !! I'd say he was happy happy happy too !!
That Lab Charlie is ONLY one yr old ?? OMG, he is way overweight, look at him lieing down !! I would be so worried about his joints !!!!!!!!!!!
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
Awww Boo...what a sweetie :-* Looks like Labby heaven in those first pics.
Poor Charlie..that dog's joints are going to be a mess. I hope the owner can get a handle on things now. Does the owner realize that he is too heavy?
Nice pictures. Looks like a great time was had by all.
Boo looks just wonderful. Love the snoozing in the sunbeam pic. Poor Charlie is going to be a mess if his owners don't get some weight off him NOW. :-\
Jackie, Champ, and Buddy
Looks like you both had a wonderful day. Great pics.
Yeah poor Charlie needs to loose quite some weight. I really hope the owners realise that.

Thanks for the complements I will be sure to share them with Boo. For those of you that are asking, yes, Charlie's owners do realize that he is over weight and from what I have heard them say their vet has them on a diet and set a target of 100lbs. The sad part about it though, and part that bothers me almost as much as the health problems Charlie might have now is that I also hear a lot of "Its his breed.. they are 'big' dogs"... "It is just how they are". To be honest I think there is a bit of denial in pet owners that have over weight animals because they do not want to admit that they have done something that is unhealthy for their pet. I also believe that there are a lot of Vets that will uner diagnose weight issues because they do not want to offend any owners because just as it is with humans weight of a pet could probably be an emotionally touchy subject.
Fortunately for Charlie while he probably does have a long road ahead of him, his owners are aware of the problem, their vet is providing guidance on feeding and they do honestly seem concerned with the problem.
