Just got a frantic call from my shelter contact....they were getting ready to put this guy down:
A 18 month old male who is a great dog and is named Axle. They begged me to leave work and come and get him...I have meetings lined up all day...and they had no way to hold him...the workers were screaming at the administrators...and none of us could stop them from sending Axle to the rainbow bridge.
I thought we had another week.
I have a big knot in my stomach now. Godspeed sweet boy....I hope you have a better life where you are.

oh God Dani I just started bawling at work.
I don't know how you do rescue and deal with situations just like this without shooting someone.
i'm so sorry, dani. :'(
i guess i don't know the workings of kill shelters, but it doesn't make sense to me why they couldn't hold him for a little bit longer, knowing that he was going to be removed from the shelter soon. ???

I am so sorry :'( What a beautiful dog. The world is fortunate to have people like you. This is gut-wrenching
