Do labs shed more in the Spring time? I swear, we could make a wig out of the hair Mar has lost in the last couple days...
Also, somebody told me that when labs get older they continuously shed and shed. Is this true or is it a seasonal thing?
I've heard that most dogs (including labs) have two shedding seasons, in the spring and in the fall (although they do shed some year round). I've notices our two shedding more in the past few weeks, but it has lightened up as of late. If it's really bad (eg. bald spots), I'd recommend seeing the vet.
My dogs shed all year long :-\ . Copper blows her coat twice a year and then there is OODLES of hair. If we let the hall way go with out the vacuum down it every day after a week it looks really bad!
Welcome to the spring blow. They are shedding out their winter undercoat. While Labs shed all the time, spring and fall are the worst. They will shed out less in the fall, but they will blow then too.
I just got down stripping out the coat in my blacks and it looks like one of the dog's exploded and left all the hair behind.
Keep brushing. In the spring, I will brush them out every day. Sometimes I will even take a blow dryer to their coat (outside of course) and just blow it all out. Of course, the next day there is more coat to blow out. LOL

Mine haven't started...yet. Dreading it already!
What kind of a brush do you use?
This time of year I don't use a brush, I use a comb or rake. My dogs have a lot of undercoat.
Normally I would say use a Zoom Groom (pink).

I heart my zoom groom ;D

I've been having to use a rake as well. Usually I use the Zoom Groom, but right now it's not enough.

I use the zoom groom too it's awesome. I could probably use a rake for Zeus though he's really blowing coat right now.
