Derby had his wellness exam today and when I asked to buy a tube of Frontline Plus, my vet said they weren't it carrying anymore. They now recommend Revolution, they feel it's more effective. Any thoughts? This is for the topical. My brother's vet in So. Cal also has stopped carrying Frontline. Wondering if this is a trend.

Revolution works well for fleas, but it is not as effective as it needs to be for heartworms. I have tested at least 4 dogs that were on Revolution (given religiously) that were positive for heartworms. Just a little FWI.
My 2 labs have been on Revolution since they were born, never had one flea. However my male tested "faintly" positive for heartworms at his last visit to the vet. We have never missed a dose but the vet said it may be because he was at the upper limit of the dosage he had. So be sure to keep them in the correct range and that all of it is absorbed.
Little off topic. Put some Frontline Plus on the boys a couple of days ago, when I cracked the top a little bit popped out and landed on my arm. That stuff burns like a MOFO. No wonder the dogs squirm when I put it on them.
I really can not use Revolution as it does not work so well on ticks, which we have an over abundance of. A day does not go by that I do not find a tick on one of the boys or myself.
Well, I have put the last Frontline on my dogs EVER. I had reservations about using it at all this summer, but since we are taking Zoe to the beach and she is going to be running around in wooded areas, I went ahead and did it on all.
Zena had a mild seizure last night.
My friend at work who did hers on Monday...both dogs now have severe squirts.
Nope; not worth it...no more for me.
I will look into Revolution, too.
