SAM POOPED OUTSIDE TWICE TODAY!!!
Last night I told him "this is it young man you're going outside!!"
I completely closed off the rest of the house to him, he was completely and totally in my line of vision the whole night. Every time he whined down the hall, out we went. Every time he barked at the back door I praised him and took him outside. This went on for hours! I'd take him outside, he'd sniff around and want to come back in. Fine back in he came but not out of my line of sight. I went back and forth between the tie out and coming back in to give him his privacy and just dragging him around the yard with a leash to keep him moving. Still nothing. About two hours in I opened a bedroom door when he wasn't looking and sat back down. Sure enough he trotted back there. I counted to about ten and then snuck back there and caught him in the position to poop. "SAM LETS GO OUTSIDE LETS GO POTTY!!" in the most excited voice I could muster and he jumped around me and headed straight for the back door! Woo hoo! HE DID NOT GO OUT THERE!! Garr!
Shut the bedroom door again and he whined at me and I said "YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE!" He huffed and laid down on a doggy pillow in the living room. He didn't get up again, about 11:30pm I was ready for bed so I said let's go to bed and he happily trotted into the bedroom and went to sleep with me.
6am came and he woke me up pawing and whining at the door. So I put him on his tie out in the back yard and watched from the kitchen window. Sure enough he pooped outside! Yay lots of praise and his favorite Duck jerky.
I fed him about 5pm (I meant to switch to the no later than 2pm but we had company and it slipped my mind) and kept an eye on him. I went into the kitchen for something and he trotted after me and went and sat by the door. Okay I'll let you out Sam. I let him out and I watch from the back door and he instantly goes and pees and then he POOPED!! YES HE POOPED!! I nearly killed myself flying out of the house praising him and hooping and hollering and giving him his ducky treat!!
Hurray for Sam!! Maybe today is just the beginning of a poop free home for me!!!
