    DefaultDisconcerting..Opinions please

This morning before leaving for church I took Tal to potty. Of course he was on leash when all the sudden two dogs, not sure what kind they were, about 50 lbs or so each appeared. I have never seen these dogs. I know the ones who go thru here regularly. Only two are ever off leash and they are with their owners and are well behaved.

Well these two dogs were off leash, had no collar and no person with them. Of course Tal wanted to play and I calmly got us into the house. If these dogs meant any harm they could have. I practically had to drag Tal inside cuz he wanted to play. There wasnt' any staring contest (obed class training coming into play here). I just remained calm and acted like we needed to go back inside, kind of like after play or a potty break.

Anyway it was a little disconcerting...

I really, really, REALLY, REALLY can't stand it when we "discover" that we are not alone during our walks. I know that the situation could escalate so quickly and the three of us could really be at risk. It just makes me so darn nervous. :-X :-\

That would have made me very nervous. You did the right thing. My girls get nervous when strange dogs run up to them & mine are on leash & the other dog isn't. This may sound cruel but I always carry pepper spray when we walk because I don't want mine hurt by a dog running loose. You really didn't know if they were friendly or not. Glad you & Tal were okay.

Ugh, that's so annoying especially since Tal just got neutered.

My neighbor's lab was loose two days after Gabby got spayed (and Gabs had a really hard recovery). We were out going to the bathroom, and Gabby got jumped on by the loose dog. So annoying.
