So I just moved this week to my first home. As I mentioned before I am planning on getting a dog this summer. Well my neighbor, lets our her dog at 6 and 9:30pm, (well thats when I am home and know of) when she lets out her dog, the dog just barks and barks and barks. Its a real mean bark too, the dog doesn't sound like the nicest dog. Unlike my neighbors on the other side who have two dogs who I haven't heard at all yet. So what do I do about this? Just let her dog bark and bark?
no...go talk to the neighbor.

I use to tell my neighbors dog to shut up all the time. Not sure they appreciate it, but I have 4 dogs and I can be out there and they maybe bark once or twice at that dog when then first notice it. I say shut up, and they do. So when he barked, I told him "be quiet" (sounds nicer than SHUT UP - which is what I want to say).
Since then my neighbors have been better at shutting him up
In some areas there is a noise ordnance after certain hours.
I just moved in on Monday, I don't want to set this lady off right at the start by complaining about her dog.
If you don't want to talk to your neighbor call animal control. In most places the calls are kept anonymous.
How long is the dog left barking outside for?
If it is left for long periods, call animal control or your local dog warden. I am pretty sure there are laws against nuisance barking.
Its really not that long, maybe 10 minutes of constant barking.
10 minutes is nothing really. I have a next door neighbor whose dog barked for 5 straight hours one evening. >
Ok, I won't make a big deal about it. Why does this stinkin dog bark the second he gets outside?
The dog could be barking for a number of reasons. My neighbours Jack Russell is deaf and he barks like there is no tomorrow. Anyway, I don't think 10 minutes of barking justifies reporting it to animal control. Maybe just a quick word with your neighbour could do the trick? if you are polite I am sure they won't mind.
