Abby, 4yo cf, has not been sleeping lately. She is up at 3am and will bark until she has attention. My husband and I have been switching staying in the guest room so we can get enough sleep to function at work.
It should be noted that she had TPLO surgery 4 weeks ago today and has been on house arrest for the entire time. Today is a milestone and we are able to walk around the block. I dont think that is going to be enough to wear her out though.
Any ideas on getting her to sleep? We have been trying to keep her occupied in the evening with toys and mental stimulation, but I am burned out.
Please help, thanks!
What kind of mental stimulation have you being doing?
We have been playing tug of war on the floor, she gets a frozen treat to chew on, some peanut butter on her nylabone and then physical therapy. I guess not "mental stimulation" more one on one interaction.
She is just so young still and I can tell she feels 100% better then before surgery and is completely going stir crazy. She also has a short attention span (as I assume most labs do) so trying to entertain her gets difficult.
Have you done obedience training with her in the past? You could do that again everynight, that's huge mental stimulation.
