    DefaultDog Park Horror Story

We were at the dog park recently and had been there for awhile The dogs were pretty tuckered out and were staying near us. A lady had come in a few minutes before with a whippet. The dog was running and a large group of dogs starting chasing it like they do with every new dog who comes in. The whippet was running so fast that it rolled a little. The lady freaked out and called her dog to her, and when other dogs followed she started trying to hit them with her leash.

Well the only dog she managed to hit was my Chloe, who was very sad! I freaked out on the lady! She said she was trying to stop a fight, so I asked her if I could hit her to stop a fight between us.

I was so mad. Chloe is a special dog, and we have had to work extra hard with her so she could gain self confidence to play at dog parks, even to walk up stairs.

It was awhile ago and I am still ANGRY about it.

OMG. Poor Chloe. :'( I totally understand how that would be detrimental to her confidence.

I think this lady was wound a little too tight to be at a dog park. Hey, *I* am wound a little too tight to be at a dog park. I know this about myself, and keep myself away.

Maybe you can go back there with Chloe at a quiet time and reassure her that not all owners are whackos. Poor baby. I don't blame you for being upset.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I agree with you, they should not have hit your dog like that. I have had to pull dogs off a woman who was knocked down at the dog park, but I certainly didn't contemplate hitting them.

We have gone back a few times since then and it didnt seem to phase her too much. She just cowered when it happened. That is the only problem I have had so far going to the park. The people and the dogs are usually very friendly. It is kinda funny because it is usually all Labs.

She sounds like a real winner. I think if anyone hit mine I would slug them back...at least I would want to. I was going to ask how was Chloe is but sounds like she is doing ok...that's good

Jese Janette, which dog park was it?

I would have punched the lady any ways. Don't hurt Chloe girl.

We used to go to the dog park alomost everyday, but I have had to many stranger than life things happen. We haven't been in over 5 months. We go to off leash walking or hiking parks and there is alot of open space between housing tracks about a block away we go there and run for hours sometimes. He doesn't miss the dog park I don't think.
