Poor dog. Sadly, some people are very misguided. Little do they know that hitting solves absolutely nothing...it makes the problem worse. > :-\

This reminds me...there is a little old lady that frequents our local park. TWICE I have seen her hit her Westie across its head for not following behind. Umm, hello? if your dog is not interested in walking, do you think their could be a problem? grrr. >

It makes me sad to hear stories like this. I don't know how many dogs I've seen in rescue that are hand shy from idiots like this.

Mamoth..do you mean the dog or the irresponsible owner should be on medication!!! We had a rescue dog many yrears ago froma rescue shelter, and he had obviously been abused because if you ever tried to give him a cuddle he would cower away shaking. But on the good side, when we got him we were told to be careful around little children...18 months after adopting him i had my first child and Ben was absolutely brilliant with the baby and very protective when out in the pram. I really believe that kindness, understanding and love is all one of our K9 friends need. Shame on this woman who feels that fear is the only way! She does not deserve to have any kind of animal!

seems like the lady was frustrated, and she doesn't know how else to communicate with her dog.
