Well Abby has a UTI. I was very pleased with the young female vet. She really gave Abby a good exam. She diagnosed a UTI & then spent a good deal of time explaining things. It seems from her exam that Abby has "an abnormal position & conformation of vulva." She asked me to get on the floor with her & look. Like I know what the heck I am looking at. She said because of this Abby may be more susceptable to UTI's. Plus she had been swollen from being in heat. She did not see any crystals in her urine under the microscope . She also said she was not going to do any x-rays because this is her first UTI. If she has another then we can have the x-rays & see if she has bladder stones, but she said those don't always show up anyway.
All her vital signs were normal & her temp was also normal.
When we got there the vet tech came outside with us to do a urine catch on Abby. Abby went right away so the sample was fresh & the didn't have to catherize her.
So $170.... Clavamox 375mg. (antibiotic) & Tramadol Hydrchloride 50 mg. for pain.
They just treat everyone wonderful there & I am so glad we went. When Abby peed at the vet's it was yellow. But the vet tech said...it will show up in the urinalysis & it did. I am just glad we caught it early. Oh & they said they will fax her history & physical to our vet so when Abby gets check, they will have it.
It was so worth the hour & ten minute ride. I feel better now.
Thank you for all your thoughts & prayers.
I'm so glad that's all it was. Get well soon, Abby!!!!!
Good news, all things considered. It sounds like your vet was very thorough. Hope she's feeling better soon!

I'm glad to hear that it wasn't anything serious!
Get well soon Abby! :-* Thanks for the update!!
Very glad to here it was only a UTI. Get well soon Abby!
Having access to an emergency vet is extremely comforting. We are fortunate enough to have 2 of them near us. One is 15 min. away and the other is 30 min. away. We have used both and have had the same experience that you describe. It has always been worth the price of the visit for the peace of mind that they give you.
Jeep274 - I only wish this one was closer. There are two others that are a bit closer but they are not as nice & we have heard some not so nice stories about them. Sometimes you have to drive a bit farther for better care.
The vets that work at this Veterinary Emergency Hospital only work there. They do not have private practices. Their Intensive Care Unit is something to see.
Sounds like a good experience at the emergency clinic. And glad that Abby is going to be back to normal soon. I hope the UTI won't come back.
Wow, that sounds like a very good emergency vet experience. I'm glad it all went well and it is something so simple.
