    DefaultChipped tooth question

Sam got a marrow bone tonight for his Valentine Day treat. I heard a loud crack and noticed his front incisor is chipped at the bottom. I will call the vet in the morning, but what do they normally do in cases like this? Thanks in advance. He loves his bones too. I can't believe this happened. :P

I don't know the answer, but wanted to say that is one of my fears with the marrow bones. I hear loud cracks all the time. I wonder if they can just file down and smooth out the tooth?

I know what you mean about the loud noises! I guess we will see what the vet says. I am hoping to be able to file the tooth as well. I guess we go back to bully sticks.

Sam lost a chunk of his tooth about 2 years ago. It hasn't caused any problems, and I get it checked regularly.

Thanks Kim! That makes me feel better. I will still call the vet tomorrow. Not too much is broken off...you can see the white inner layer though, but no blood. It doesn't seem to bother him.

He saw our vet when it happened, and has been checked up regularly (and we go to the vet at least once a month with him). It's not a concern at the moment, it's not infected nor does it have a cavity. The root isn't exposed.
    So he's ok.

Emilu broke one of her little front teeth off at the nub years agos. It looks blackish now (has for a long time), but the vet doesn't think we need to do anything about it. It doesn't bother her at all. Vet said if we ever have her under for anything, he'll take it out.

Maybe they can just file it for you or fill it in. Hope it's ok. Mine get marrow bones all the time and thankfully, no chipped teeth!
