Sorry for this question. I actually feel a little weird asking it.
We have a 6 month old male puppy. Recently almost every single time he sits down, "you know what" comes out. My question/concern is that it doesn't just come out a little bit - it comes out quite a bit - like a few inches. And then it doesn't just go back in once he stands up. It happens all the time and it's almost a little embarrassing when other people are around because it is out so far.
Is this normal? Is this something that will go away once he is neutered?
Yes, it's normal. For some reason Finley seems to do it more often when we're training. I guess he finds it... stimulating. For what it's worth, it does happen less now than a few months ago (he's 16 months now). He's not desexed yet, we're waiting until he's finished growing before we do that. From memory, the desexed male we had when I was a child used to have his red rocket moments too, so don't ever expect it to go away completely.
Kody is almost 6 years old now and he still has it occasionally. It is completely normal. I think it happens more often when they are young. Once they mature it usually takes them getting excited about something. I notice it happens with Kody mostly when he is anticipating something good like a favorite treat or a trip to the park. It can be a bit embarrassing, but remember that it is a natural reaction that all male animals deal with. :-X
"Mr. Peepers" (highly technical term) still makes an appearance occasionally in our house. No rhyme or reason. We just tell Jack to "put it away" and he usually does. ;D Jack's a neutered 4 yr old male. Having only dealt with females it took getting use to....but now it's old hat.

LOL Glad I have girls. ( I have never seen Duke's)We just tell Jack to "put it away" and he usually does.
This used to happen more when Cole was a younger dog. Now he is 6. But uh...he ummmm.... "partakes" shall we say on an occasional basis. Usually when he is outside. I'll stick my head out the window and he's going at himself and Mr. Peepers is making a GRAND appearance. My husband saw him do it for the first time the other day (he didn't believe me) and was totally grossed out. LOL. Thankfully he doesn't choose to do this in the middle of a dinner party.
Perfectly normal. Sometimes Seamus is feeling so relaxed he just let's it all hang out. Doesn't bother me, but sometimes if we have guests they freak out a bit. LOL

It's normal and won't go away with nuetering. We usually tell Hudler to "put it away" and he's learned to give a couple licks and away it goes.
Eddie shows now and again, more recently when I was scratching his chest................. hmmmm
