DefaultAnyone heard of Purina Calf Manna supplement ???

A family friend that has 6 dogs 4 cats, mentioned the other day that she gives her dog a few tablespoons of a product called "Calf Manna" by Purina. It was recommended to her by a dog breeder years ago. Its some sort of food supplement that comes in pellets.
It is supposed to repell ticks, fleas, etc, and it is also good for dry hair, and bad breath.
Our friend swears by it.... I really can't find too much information on it, have not found anywhere that is recommended for dogs...
    Anyone heard anything???

Yes, I used this for years on my horses. Got good results as well. It smells like black licorice Never knew they used it on dogs. Interesting.

I remember feeding it to our horses when I was growing up, too, as well as the goats. But I only remember feeding it to the pregant ones and the foals.

I understood it was for more calcium, at least for horses.

I ran an old fashion feed store for years and Calf Manna or Manna Pro has been around for years! I do not remember it being a Purina product. We were a Purina dealer, but I don't remember getting through Purina.

Here is link to their web site

    Defaultmana pro makes it

Ok I have been in the feed busines for years carnation was the original calf manna now the good stuff comes from manna pro who took over carnation products. I have never used the purina calf manna so I can't tell you if it si good or bad but if you want what has ben fed for years it is the manna pro formula. I feed it to my lab pups and to our boxer puppies to give them a kick start . Plus we feed it to our piglets and to new calves

I'd be very leery of feeding feeding a nutritional supplement to a Lab under 12 months age.

Puppy foods for dogs that, as adults, will weigh more than 50 lbs. (Large Breed Puppy foods), should be properly formulated for optimal growth, joint and bone formation.

NOT ALL of them are. Some mfrs put that on their label but the ingredients don't match those puppy's needs.
