Rider IS a huntin' dawg!!!!
My friend Jason took the boys out pheasant hunting yesterday (Sunday), and I was very doubtful that Rider would be a good upland dog. I've trained him to sit and wait like in a duck hunting scenario...not to be a flushing dog. Well, after about 35 minutes of being out there, Jason called and said it's cold as all get out and that the birds weren't flying too far. When I asked him what Rider was doing, he responded with "he's bouncing right next to me and hasn't left my side." I laughed because I told him that was what was going to happen.
Well, about an hour later, Jason calls and says, "Rider just proved us wrong." Much to my surprise, Rider actually used his nose and started patterning out in the field and flushed two pheasants out, a hen and a rooster. Drake also flushed two out but Jason was only able to shoot 3 of the 4 birds. I wish there could of been pictures of the boys retrieving the birds after the kill, but here is a couple of shots in Jason's garage with their pheasants....I am a proud mama.
You can see how tired the boys are...especially Rider around the rims of his eyes they are just red...that is a sure fire tell tale that he is whooped!
