    Just want to throw four penn'orth in as nobody has mentioned it but Labs do tend to chew rather a lot. However careful you may be, they will find some time when you back is turned - they only need a couple of minutes and your favourite chair/bed/tv remote/get the idea will be toast.

    This is less likely with an older dog but that's all - just less likely. Some dogs chew and some dogs don't even with training

    Good advice. If you want to talk about hot...I live in AZ. Now AZ is HOT but its a dry heat. In the summer my dogs get running/fetching exercise early (pre-dawn) and/or late evening (after 10 pm). Their normal summer activity is swimming which they can do at any time but I am still careful that they don't over heat themselves.
