    DefaultTomorrow: Angus in Pre-Novice

I don't know why, but I'm really excited about this. :P

I have very high hopes for my Monkeyman. He really should be able to do this. I guess it will be interesting to see if he can monkey up something so simple.

Connie - what is pre-Novice? I didn't know that had something like that. Moose and I will be starting a Competition prep class. Before I signed up I asked the instructor to make sure we were ready and she said he was very solid. I really hadn't planned on competition, but maybe this will spur me on. Although after reading thru your posts, I'm not sure I want to go thru that!

Sharon, Pre-Novice is just like Novice, except everything is on-lead. So, you only do one heeling pattern, you do your recalls from the end of a six-foot leash, and the group exercises are also done at the end of a six foot leash.

The scores are not reported to the AKC (I don't think), but you do get a score just as you would in Novice. There are ribbons for the top four placements, but you don't get any kind of title.

For us, it just seemed a good way to practice the Novice exercises in a show environment, especially since our biggest problem is group exercises. I think he can manage to stay if I'm standing just six feet away. I hope!

There are something like 18 dogs entered in Pre-Novice tomorrow. I'd love for Angus to place! On a good day, he could totally kick ass. But if he's having a monkey day, we'll be lucky not to get banned.
