I took Mia back to the vet Monday. She has slowly increased the # & size of lumps in her neck. After reading the report from Purdue, we knew the first diagnosis WAS the correct one & she does have Hemangiosarcoma. After a short examination the vet agreed. All of her lymph nodes except for two are severely enlarged & then the growths in her neck.
I really think he was dumbfounded after he felt all her lymph nodes & he just looked at her & was petting her. He said "I have honestly NEVER seen a dog whose body is in the poor condition hers is but be in the
(he chuckled) state she is in. He said I am sure she is more powered down at home BUT STILL, she is so active & alert & HAPPY! EVEN on herbals, I have NEVER SEEN ANYTHING in ALL MY YEARS!!" Mia gets VERY EXCITED at the vets & yipes in this high pitched tone (even sick!) & gets excited & spins.
We just wanted some antibiotics & pain meds (Sunday night seemed to be rough for her) . He looked at her chart, gave us what we asked for & said we may eventually need something to go with the pain med to help her. We will cross that bridge when we get there. She has been having more good days than bad for now so hopefully that will stay that way for a while!
She gave us a terrible scare this morning (Wed). When I woke up she was fine. I was petting her talking to her as we were in bed. Her heart rate increased suddenly THEN she started panting heavy. I know panting is a sign of pain. At this pint she had only moved her head. Eventually she got up & after moving around seemed a bit better. I guess we are going to need to give her the Medicam daily now. We have the other pain pills & can give them as needed. I hope she goes here at home while she is sleeping with one of us. :'( Feeling fine or not we know she has had this at least a month & it is progressing VERY fast.
