I've been corresponding with a person who lives in SC. She found a beautiful lab around Thanksgiving who was either lost or abandoned. She has placed all kinds of ads, contacted shelters, and finally made the dog a page on MySpace hoping someone on the friend network might recognize her. So far, no luck.
She can't keep the dog. I suggested she look for a lab rescue in her state. I thought if I supplied a #, it might help and if anyone would know of a good place to try, it would come from someone in here.

NC Lab rescues
I know it's not SC, but depending on where she lives in SC it might be close.
Pam, what part of SC?
I would contact Lab Rescue of North Carolina. It is a WONDERFUL organization that is highly organized, dedicated, and well-run. From what I've heard, this cannot be said of all SC Lab rescue organizations. I can personally attest to the organization and the people behind it.
Thanks for all the replies. I'll relay the info and ask what part of SC
I relayed all the above info and asked for the location.
Then it dawned on me I could get the town from the profile info.
It's listed as INMAN, SC
that is the northern part of SC, not too far from NC.
