He is chewing everything outside up.I was out back today with them and noticed one of the dogs,Most likely Shadow has started chewing my cable line running into the house.I moved it and tried hiding it and will see what happens now.He has already started chewing up our new fence, not alot but not happy about it and some old wood poles and a leftover utility pole.I had the fence built for the dogs to have plenty of space to run and enjoy their lives more.
I won't get rid of him because of this but I need ti find a way to stop it.I can't be out every second they are out, hence why I have 2 dogs for so they keep each other company while I am unable to attend to them.
Any Ideas?
I am just looking for some ideas.I knew Labs chewed like mad before I bought him so it doesn't surpise me any.
Sure you can...it's called supervising your dogOriginally Posted by Shawn
As you found out, dogs don't usually entertain themselves so it's up to us. Exercise the heck out of your pups and then bring them in and crate them when you can't supervise.
I do alot of that but they wear me out instead of me wearing them out.My health has changed since I got Shadow and now can't be out as long as I would like a few hours and I have to come in.They are still wired and ready to play though.
a few hours and I have to come in.I last 20 minutes with my 7! They'd prefer I cut it to 15!

He's bored. Does he ever get out of the yard for a walk? Something new..a change. Most dogs need more than just another dog. How about an obedience class?
He sounds bored, un-exercised and unsupervised. More playing, training and when you can't watch him..crate him.

all I can say is puppy pushups. You can do it while your watching tv and it keeps them really entertained. You know the one, sit, down, sit, stand. Treat, treat, treat. It's amazing how quickly they get tired and just want to stay down. You don't have to run marathons with him to play with him. Sit on the step, throw the ball a few times and then go in and do the pushups. Also if he is into unearthing things, try hiding a few toys in his bed so he can toss it to find it or get a kong or other type of learning dog toy. He'll happily work at trying to get the treat (toy) and you can sit back and laugh at the hamball. Indi loves her stocking from christmas and I was almost tempted to keep it out when I packed all the christmas stuff away.
Good luck. ;D
I have a question ~ Why do the dogs spend so much time outdoors?
Because that is where they want to be.Not inside.I let them in they want outside.Scrathing at the door and barking wanting out.
