So, I always knew my dogs ate quickly, but I never knew they ate this fast, lol. I just fed the dogs and seeing as I'm obviously bored out of my mind, I decided to time how long it would take them to eat. Holden inhales 2 cups of food in 50 seconds, and Isabelle eats her 1 1/2 cups in 56 seconds. Anyone else have turbo eaters?
hahahahah I timed Buck one time. He ate 1.5 cups in 35 seconds. This was when he was younger (8weeks - 4-5months). I slowed him down by hand feeding. Since he turned 6-7 months he eats 1.5 cups in about 50 seconds or so.
It's insane how he inhales the food!

Brigetta is a fast eater. I have to put her busy buddy in the dish to slow her down!
Teresa, mom to Brigetta and Prudence
Princess eats so fast that I can't even watch anymore. It scares me to death.
I don't think she chews the first bite.
I often wonder the same thing, lol.Originally Posted by Lilprincee

For those with fast eaters : Try putting something in their bowl that they have to eat around. I use a nylabone and it's really helped with Frankie. Tucker, on the other hand, is the slowest eater in the world. Takes him a good 5-10 minutes to finish 1-1/2 cups.

I tried this and it never worked. Sami just picked up the offending object (nylabone, tennis ball, can of peas) and dumped it out of her bowl! She wasn't about to let anything get in her way : I bought the brake-fast bowl (http://www.brake-fast.net/) that rushpuppy mentioned above. That has made the biggest difference in slowing her down. It takes her at least a couple of minutes now vs. 40 seconds before.Originally Posted by jzgrlduff
My Zena girl is that way. We have found rubbing her tummy while she eats slows her wayyyyyyyyy down. Guess she's trying to decide "lovin or food"!
I've tried putting stuff in her bowl, it doesn't work for her either. The breakfast bowl is plastic and she is alergic to plastic.
