DefaultI got an email from Clint's sire's owner!

His daddy is 14 and still doing well! Even though he is a champion he is in a pet home. The owners didn't neuter him and then allowed him to be shown when he was 4 - 5 years old. They want to come visit Clint and Wigeon!

So they didn't show him until he was 4 or 5? Wow, I always thought it had to be started very young. That's kind of why I've "given up" on Frankie, I thought he was too old now.

Did they send you a picture of him?

How fun!!! I and Emma got the opportunity to meet Emma's mom a few years ago when she was about 13. Emma hadn't seen her since she was a puppy, but there was a special bound between the gals. I didn't bring the camera that time. And I have regret that ever since. (her momma is gone now) So don't forget to take lots of pictures of Clint's daddy, Sharon.

Clint's sire is a bit of a legend. He was sold as a pet to a lobster fisherman in CT. He takes the dog out on the boat every morning. Anyway he showed up a show one day with the dog who was about 4 years old. His breeder had kept and finished a litterbrother of his and then saw him at the show and nearly fell of her chair. She convinced him to let a handler show him. He finished in short order with a best in specialty. Breeders went crazy and asked to breed to him but the owner refused and his "country" vet didn't have a clue about collecting or shipping so that was out. Finally Clint's breeder wore him down and said he would come and do everything. I think he was bred to only 4 times and then the owner refused anyone else.

I was at a puppy party two years ago with some breeders from NY I didn't know. I overheard a conversation about the "fisherman's dog" who showed up out of nowhere and was so fabulous and the dissappeared back into anonymity. Someone esle then said that there was a son of the dog who was just as nice or even nicer sleeping on someone's sofa in a pet home. My friend was in the conversation and exclaimed "That's Sharon's Clint!"
