Awwww, Bella's story broke my heart.
"Each is a creature of Earth and is entitled to reside on it with dignity"
21 for a little dog I can certainly believe.
29 for a lab mix - I'm just not sure that I can believe that. If it's true - WOW!
Small breed dogs do sometimes out live larger breed dogs and I know cats live a long time too. My cousin has a cat that is 17 years old and still going strong.
To err is human, to forgive, canine.
The larger the dog breed, the shorter the longevity and vice-versa. But 29 is l-o-n-g for a Lab mix.
Puff [YF, AKC field line (from competing HT/FT breeder) 62 lbs, dob: 8-'01]
Bess [BF, AKC bench line (from competing show breeder) 55 lbs., 1967-1981] "Poor Bess, the Wonder Dog":
Well, regardless of their age, it's obvious both had and have loving homes that value them alot. And even though Bella is now gone, at least she was with her family and had a nice life. Run free, sweet Bella.
