Emma isn't scared, but I know a lot dogs are terrified. (Emma has a golden friend who gets so terrified she just run around inside to find a place to hide... )It's already much fireworks outside and I won't go out until it's calmer. I don't wanna risk Emma gets scared. I hope your dogs is OK this night.
Mine aren't scared of fireworks/thunder/gun sounds. I think most labs aren't affected by loud noises since they are bred to be hunting dogs. I once had a dog who was terrified of such noises. We don't have so much fireworks here on New Year as we do on July 4th.
Nope. Mine don't batter an eyelid.
I know some dogs who are terrified. None of them are Labs though -- most gundog breeds (from field lines especially) have a natural resilience to loud noises. It is in the genes.
I was at a country show last year and one of the events on stage was a reenactment of the Civil War. Obviously this meant a lot of bangs, loud noises (I mean REALLY loud gunshots) and large hairy men screaming. My dogs thought it was fantastic but most of the dogs around us (who promply left!) were quivering wreaks...one Greyhound was shaking so badly it could barely walk to get away.
I took Jasper on a clay shoot and he didn't blink an eye and Samson is a veteran noise expert
I do know some Labs ( well 2 that are/were scared of fireworks though so it's not unusual )
I took Mambo to see them for the 4th of July, and I think he is going with us tonight.
I know dogs who are terrified of fireworks, but not of gunshots. One of them a pointer, who's owner was a hunter. Emma isn't scared of gunshots or thunderstorms either. But I don't think it matters which breed it's if somebody throws a firework behind the dog... :-\
They are illegal here to set off. BUT people do it. Dakotas second doggie class we took we had to call off class because people were shooting fireworks off over the top of us and scaring all the dogs...
Shiner thinks they are a gun and immediately heels next to DH looking for the birds. Jimo gets scared and hides under the table. Two completely different reactions, it's pretty funny.
Puff gets scared and hides, same with thunderstorms.
