    DefaultTaking Sam to the vet (UPDATE Thurs. p.m.)

    Thurs 2:30 p.m. - Well, still nothing on the x-ray, but they thought his stomach looked "funny" like maybe an ulcer, but said it was hard to tell with the ribs in the way. They said I could wait and see how it goes or leave him overnight for a barium series. Since he'd thrown up four meals in a row, I left him and cried all the way home. They are also going to do bloodwork. Hopefully I'll know something in the morning.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    He threw up Tues. night's dinner in the middle of the night, seemed fine Weds. a.m. so I gave him breakfast. He was fine all day so went to see a matinee movie Weds. afternoon. One of the dogs had vomited twice when I got home, wasn't sure which one it was because Bodie had thrown up Tues. afternoon (but that was because he ate a swiffer). Both dogs seemed fine. Fed them dinner, which Sam threw up four hours later, so off to the emergency vet last night. Nothing showed on an x-ray, so they gave him two shots (one of Pepcid, one to keep him from vomiting). They said to feed him a small meal this morning and keep an eye on him. He slept like a rock and seemed fine this morning, very hungry for breakfast which I gave him at 6:30. He just threw it up.
    I'm so worried that he has an obstruction, since he's had four before. The vet said it is very rare for a dog to have that many obstructions. Sam is inside all the time unless he goes out to go to the bathroom, or walks/exercise and he's with us then. I don't know what he could have gotten into. They did knock down their baby gate a few days ago while we were gone but Sam has never eaten things inside that he's not supposed to, only rocks outside.
    Aw man, Brenda. I really hope it's not an obstruction. Sam has had his share of vet visits.
    Maybe he's just not feeling well? If he did eat something he wasn't supposed to, hope it comes out.
    Good thoughts for you and Sam.
    I hope he's ok. Dixie was thought to have an obstruction but it turned out to be panceatitis. BAD. Her numbers were so high they didn't register for almost 10 days.
    I hope Sam doesn't have anything too serious, but you are doing the right thing by taking him in.
