    DefaultTango, our first lab

I took a pic of a pic that's at my desk at work, hence the tack. I love this picture of him, with his little back feeties sticking out. I miss my boy. He was 10-1/2 when we had to put him down because of Hemangiosarcoma almost 6 years ago. Nasty cancer.

That pic just grabbed my heart. Look at that boy. Didn't know you had a Tango. He was a precious boy.

We were so stupid raising him. We lived on 8 acres (rented) and used to leave him gated on the deck when we left for work when he was a puppy. Never even heard of a crate. I fed him whatever food was on sale. Kept his collar on 24/7. Didn't take any classes. But ya know what? He was the best dog. He was loose in the house when he wasn't on the deck and he never chewed anything, except the corner of the TV. He wasn't a counter surfer either. Never stole anything.

He was very protective of us though, and bit two people. :-\ One was the neighbors kid, he just nipped her. The other was a kid trying to steal the boys' mini bike. We were threatened with having him put down with that one. Oh, and we had a friend/electrician at our house once doing work and we left to go to the kids' wrestling match. When we came home 2 hours later, Tango had one of the electricians trapped in the attic. He wouldn't let him come down the drop-down stairs. That was actually funny. ;D

We've learned SO much since then.

How sweet Amy. We never forget our dogs do we? We had to have our12yr. old Lab Idgie to sleep a couple years ago and I think of her EVERY day. She's buried in our back yard so I talk to her every day too. She was the BEST Lab. She had cancer too and it was awful. I'll never forget.

I had to laugh. My first lab,was a beautiful yellow named Misty, I had gotten from the shelter in 1980. I did everything wrong, too. "Crates!?" ??? "You mean all dog food isn't the same?" "What the hell is a Halty collar?" "Doggie day care! Maybe in Hollywood!" Al Gore hadn't invented the internet, no JL forum.
Somehow she turned out to be a great dog (to me anyway).

She was/is my favorite. We did everything together from fishing to plowing snow. She was the first dog that stole my mothers heart. Whenever I visited Mom, Misty had better be with me. Misty was actually the easiest to train, of course I never fully took advantage of that. She was smart and quite the character, truly a great companion. She lived to the age of nine.
