Defaulte.colicious! (or, I Am Exhausted This Morning)

Theo is my good boy. Let's just get it out there. He's sweet, exceptionally gentle, undemanding, likes to work. He's also voracious and will eat anything, anytime. You can NEVER let your guard down walking him. He is very good with "leave it" and "watch" and "heel," but he is also much more tenacious and watchful than I am. He is aware the nanosecond that my attention has wandered when there is something "edible" (and I do mean it ironically) in mouth range.

Yesterday morning we were doing our usual off-leash walk and fetching. He was being great, as usual. I was chatting with a friend and I threw the ball behind me to make him catch up. He didn't come dashing back as usual, and I whipped around to find him splashing around in a mud puddle, drinking as much as he could before I could call him off. (This is one of his particularly annoying traits. When he's eating something he knows he's not supposed to eat and is out of arm's range, he will scarf down as much as he can before I call him off. Then he comes running over with this look on his face--and usually poop or dead squirrel on his muzzle--that says, "Look what a good boy I am! I came! I think I deserve a treat!" Anyway, I digress.)

So I do call him off, and he comes. Good boy. Sort of. We've had a lot of rain, and this is a heavily used dog park, so I am concerned about standing water.

And then, last night. I should mention that we live in a walk-up townhouse with no backyard.

12:13. Whining at the door. Diarrhea.
    3:05. More diarrhea.
    4:20. More diarrhea.
    6:55. Yet more diarrhea.

So we're fasting and starting on cottage cheese and rice. Let's hope there are no surprises when I get home later.

Poor Theo. Did he make it outside?

    Poor Theo? Poor me! ;D

He did make it outside. One thing I'll say--he has incredible control. I think he'd rather burst than go in the house.

Poor Theo. I hope his tummy settles down. And that you both get some sleep tonight.

I envy you. Can Theo teach that to Abby please? She's already ruined $500 worth of wool rug and is slowly working on the sofa.

I hope Theo is feeling better!

That's the way Tucker is, Nathan. He will not go in the house.

I know what you mean about scarfing down as much as possible before I can get to him. Hope Theo feels better.

Ewwww... I hope poor Theo is feeling better too, and that you can get some sleep tonite too. That is so rotten.

For what it's worth, Yeller is my scarf down mud and things she shouldn't when out of arm's reach. I can relate to your late night, early morning diarrhea. Only she doesn't hold it. She explodes.
