DefaultHave any of you heard about this?

Our obedience instructor told us last night that in the new Retriever magazine ( think that's the name) a new feeding suggestion for dogs. They claim that when you finish a bag of dog food you need to change to another variety. Each time. High quality too.The other thing is they should have broccoli, brussel sprouts or cauliflower at least a cup a week. This is to help prevent cancer. Anyone else heard this?

I've never heard that and would never do it personally. There aren't many decent quality foods around here to start with, and Bailey is really enjoying what he is being switched onto over the course of this week. I don't see any point in changing it after each bag. I'm no expert in canine diet so it is just my opinion, but it sounds rather odd to me.

Well, following that logic, dogs should have dark chocolate and a glass of red wine!

I give Emma brussels and broccoli sometimes, she loves it. Haven't heard it this before, maybe I should give her more of that now!.

I can't see changing their food all the time like that. I buy the same everytime, the only thing different I do is alternate between lamb and chicken.

    Interested to see the article.

I think the dogs stomach would be very upset, changing foods all the time... :-\ When they got used to one brand, time to change to another. I don't think that can be good?!

Variety is good, and if you have a dog with no foody issues rotating between a few different forumlas can't hurt, but this would be bad news for dogs with sensitivities. If your dog is doing well on a certain kibble, stick with it. The better way to add variety is by fresh foods -- regular raw or even cooked meals and scraps.

The other thing is they should have broccoli, brussel sprouts or cauliflower at least a cup a week. This is to help prevent cancer. Anyone else heard this?
Sounds like a load of crock if you ask me.
