    DefaultA so-sad Princess Two-Paws

This was taken at 5:30 this morning.* It's how Princess Two-Paws got her nick-name. Waiting for her breakfast and hoping she gets to hunt with Dad.

Then she tried her shaking hands routine which is her way of saying "please" ...

Finally, I had to tell her that it was Cappy's turn this morning and she'd have to stay home.* Doesn't that dejected look just break your heart?* *

Remi and Rusty aren't my whole life. They're trying to fill the hole in my heart left by Cappy's passing.

In training there's something called "setting the dawg up for a failure". It's ok in training to overcome a bad habit or behavior such as breaking (taking off to retrieve before being released by command) or failing to honor another dawg's turn to retrieve. In fact a field trainer often uses that technique on purpose. But I won't allow those conditions to occur when hunting. It's frustrating, raises my anger and resultant harsh corrections, and in some circumstances can actually be dangerous with loaded guns around.

When Carol and I hunt together, we can each handle one of the dawgs from separate blinds. But when it's just me hunting (about half the time) then I only take one of the two dawgs and have them alternate every other day. When I mentioned MY anger above ... here's an example of what can precipiate it with me and why I don't hunt them together until Remi has better learned to honor Cappy's retrieves ...

CAPPY HERE!!! REMI ... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! REMI, SIT ... LEAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

and guess what ... the failure is not Remi's. It's mine for an obvious flaw in that phase of her training. :-[

    But we shall overcome. 8)

Love the way she crosses her paws. Cute.

    (so Remi, yes it's Daddy's fault!) :P
