Here's what I decided to do:
I am going to write a letter to the club, praising them for the outstanding job they did organizing the trial (they really did), and then I will tell my hot dog story, ending with accolades for The Steward from Heaven.
I exchanged emails with the trial coordinator today. I wrote and told her that I would like to write a letter to their club, but was missing some information, and could she please give me the name of the ring steward that worked Novice A Rally on Saturday?
She replied with her name, and hoped I didn't have any complaints - this ring steward was one of their best.
I replied back and assured her that I had NOTHING but the very highest praise for this ring steward. I simply wanted to thank her. I said, "It's a long story, but she really helped me out in a pinch, right before I walked into the ring, and I wanted to let her know how much I appreciated it."
She replied back and said this: "Ohhh! You must be the hot dog lady!"
Today I bought the ring steward a cool pair of gloves, and I am going to conclude my letter with, "Enclosed is a small token of my deep gratitude to "Susie Smith." I hope that these will serve her well in her future ring stewarding endeavors."
This is going to be really funny. The trial coordinator totally got it, and says that she will make sure the letter and gloves are presented with "great pomp and circumstance." :P
