She went out to potty and I saw her running around with something in her mouth.* A stick?* A rock? Grass?* Leaves? A grasshopper * Nope.* She tossed it up and watched it when it landed.* OMG I said she has something alive!!!!! .* I ran out calling in my sweetest mommy loves you so much voice but she wasn't to be fooled.* She KNEW I wanted what she had.* So I stood still, calling ever sweetly to her and to my surprise, she came running to me with the proudest look on her face.* I pried open her jaws (we have done this so many times that by now she realized she better open up because we won't quit until she does) and there inside her mouth was a poor little Goldfinch.* STILL ALIVE, it appears uninjured but I have put it in an incubator to help with the shock.* Time will tell whether the poor little thing will survive.* Boo can be such a shark!!!!* She ALWAYS has something in her mouth and tries her best to hide it.* Just like a kid, guilt is all over her face but she can't trick mommy and daddy.* We know she has something in there!!! ;D
Well, by 5:00 yesterday the little bird was ready to go.* I took him (it was a male) outside, opened my hand, and he sat there a couple of seconds, getting his bearings I imagine, then off he flew into our trees.* A VERY HAPPY ENDING!!!!
Poor little thing, you can take the dog out of the wild, but it sure is hard to take the wild out of the dog!
Wow. Hope the bird survives. Must be a baby, and couldn't fly?
(yeps, they sure know how to hide things in their mouths. Zoe hid a knot from a very small rawhide that was laying in the grass at someone's house. I was wondering why she wasn't sniffing around and opening her mouth and taking a treat. I saw a little buldge and when I asked her to drop it, out flew the little knot) :

Poor little bird!!
They are great at hiding things in their mouths! I have also become an expert at prying open the jaws and fishing things out of Hank's mouth! It used to surprise me when I would find strange things in there but now I just expect it!
wow...good catch boo!

did the bird make it?
I like the description of you using your sweetest voice to coax Boo into giving you whatever she had lol. Been there! I hope the bird makes it.
Oh my gosh!!! Thank God she didn't hurt the poor thing Is the birdie OK now?

Ah, yes, the hide the prize in the mouth trick! CoCo does that well... and if its something good, she will NOT drop it unless you have her cornered... and then she tries the "I'm not looking at you, if I don't see you then you can't make me!"... :
Hope the birdie makes it!

Hoping the little birdie is ok. Typical lab - everything in the mouth
