Can you remember? Sure we all have our beef with things we have to do...poop patrol, getting up early, dealing with them when they are sick, buying more toys, cleaning, running the vacuum ATLEAST once a day. But can you really remember what life was like before you had them? I guess it just hit me, I havent even had Bear a year and Max alot less, but I cant remember life when I was doing something that wasnt lab related.
Edited to add: Like I cant remember running the vacuum because it needed to be done not because it NEEDED to be done. I cant remember the last time I actually set my alarm. And I cant remember making plans without worrying about my babies.
Life was ok...but not nearly as much fun!
I remember I remember. I got to sleep in my bed like a normal person in a straight line not bent in the middle making a 7 to find enough space in a queen size bed because the lab is stretched out to her full expanse.
Seriously I wouldn't trade her for the world and I miss her when she decides to sleep out on the couch because I am to restless and disturb her sleep.
Thats too funny. I think were all like that. The dogs sleep in the cage here but I have to share a couch with them when we snuggle. And that couch aint big enough for all of us (that why I normaly get off). All the things we put up with, but wouldnt trade them for anything. (Ive thought about trading hubby but not my babies ;D )
SO and I have found we insert Jake into memories from when we didn't even have him! We were talking about a trip we took for SO's birthday two years ago (Jake's only 1) and we both thought he was there - I swear in my mind's eye I could see him walking ahead of us on the hikes we took around the mountains.
Clearly our minds don't like to think of life without a lab
Only after the last tree has been cut down, only after the last river has been poisoned, only after the last fish has been caught, only then will you find that money cannot be eaten. - Cree prophecy
Thats funny Jess.
I remember there was a lot less hair and my bed seemed a looooot bigger!

It's been 15 years since we started to share our lives with labs. I faintly remember what sleeping with SU in the king size bed & actually stretching my legs out & having covers was like. Going out & ot worrying about coming home any certain time.
**But life sure is more fun now with the labs!!!
Since it was only a couple of months ago I remember...
...a cleaner house
...walking out of the house in the morning without wet socks and dribble down my pant legs
...and having to pick rawhide out of the carpet
...it was also very quiet and the boys didn't have something that they didn't fight over.
