    DefaultSundance's non-swimming playdate

On Sunday we went over to our friends’ house so Sundance could play with their dogs and possibly swim in their pool. It was a fabulously warm day, possibly our last for a while.* These friends have two relatively new sweet dogs (herding mixes), and the pups haven’t shown much interest in the pool. The plan was that Mr. Lab (Sundance), who loves to run through the sprinklers and get soaked by the hose, would hopefully start swimming, then Tina and Rochester would see how fun it is and join in.* Well, that didn't happen.

When we first got to their backyard deck, Sundance had been engaged in bitey face with the dogs for a few minutes when he apparently figured, “Why chase the dogs AROUND pool, when I can simply run across!” The tarp covering the pool held up for about three seconds before Sundance was submerged. Poor guy was so startled.* In his eagerness to get out, he bonked his chin on the side of the pool. He seemed okay, but we’re guessing this is why he was so reluctant to come in later, even with prodding from the adults.* Oh, well. We’ll try again next summer. He had a fantastic time with his new doggie friends, though.

Here are Craig (SU) and our friend Bryan trying to coax them into the pool.

Craig tries putting Sundance on the step, but he immediately climbs out

Wow, that tennis ball sure looks enticing, but we don’t wanna get wet.

Still got our eyes on the ball, but we ain’t moving.

All this observing is making us tired.

    Awwww that is so cute!

I'm hoping next year Ender will have forgotten his "negative" experience with docks and try jumping off one again.

I'm hoping a year will make a big difference, memory-wise, too.

Poor guy, being startled with the tarp, then bonking his chin on the way out.

Love the pictures, 'specially the one of them all with the eyes on the ball!

The progression of your pics almost makes it look like the men are teaching the dogs to swim, and the dogs are watching closely....learning ;D

Maybe next year the first time we took Buddy to a pool he just wanted no parts of it and he loves water no other dogs were there then we took him to a pool with a swimming Lab thats all it took now as soon as we go over there he jumps right in it looks like you may need to find a 4th dog that swims to show them the ropes
