I mentions a week or so ago about a friends lab whose nose was swollen due to the halti(or so she thought). It has since come to light that she had washed the halti and leads in a biological wash powder, and so now we are thinking allergic reaction.* THe dogs nose is no longer swollen but the fur where the halti sits(she doesn't use it now) has started to fall out and there is a bald patch.* I don't really know how to advise her.* She is going to get him checked out at the vets tomorrow..*
Will the hair grow back normally?
Has anyone come across this before??
I should think the fur would grow back allergy or no allergy. I can't see any reason why it shouldn't if she has stopped using the washed Halti that is causing the problem. That said, she should ask her vet tomorrow to be on the safe side.
This is what I did when Paddy had a horrible lick granuloma on his paw. Twice daily I cleaned the site with Witch Hazel and then put pure Vitamin E oil on it. Rub it well into the site. His fur came back beautifully and you'd never know now that the spot had been so angry and furless.

My friend took the lab to the vets, it was an allergic reaction to the washing powder. Poor thing. ANyway, should all grow back normally and never use biological washing powder for dogs!!!
that's good that it got solved and that the dog's har will grow back..poor thing
Glad your friends dog is ok.
Can I ask what washing power she used? did she wash the collar in a washing machine?
Hi Trickster, it was surf powder that she used. And yes in a washing machine.
