Remember when there were three puppies we were going to choose Ender from?
And Eric fell in love with the smallest... baby... goofy looking runt?* (not a true runt but definitely smaller than his brothers and "behind" a bit)
We didn't have first pick and I agonized that I was going to have to choose between Eric's favorite (which I didn't like)?* I was either going to have to hurt his feelings or go against my gut feeling.
But then, the first picker picked the "baby" and I was able to get the one I REALLY wanted!*
7 months later.. and with "the perfect pup" (in our opinion)... I reminded Eric of that decision so long ago.*
Eric immediately put his hands on Ender's ears and said "DON'T SAY THAT AROUND HIM!!"*
"ENDER I LOVE YOU... you were my heart's first choice!"
I certainly DO remember when...and I agonized with you over this decision because it was SO clear that Ender was the better pick, in every category. Thankfully, fate stepped in and made the choice for you. But, I would also use that as ammo against my DH too :P
So nice to see his puppy pics again... *sigh* I love that boy. Can't wait to meet him someday. And he is so lucky to have you both as parents. You two are so good for him.
I picked Toshiro from a girl that lives a block away. He wasn't my first choice, I wanted a very fat puppy (called Meat Ball), but my husband wanted Toshiro (his name was Budha at the time). I'm glad my hubby insisted , I love Toshiro to bits!
When we got Hudler, our first, we had a pick of 2 boys, and of course I picked one and Dave picked the other. My puppy was soft and squishy and nuzzled into my neck and was super sweet. Dave's pup chased the cat, ran around the breeder's house, had Dave follow him into the whelping room like he was showing off where he used to live (we got to see some mom's with their puppies), and peed on the floor. But for some reason I let Dave have his choice, and since Dave already had the name picked 3 months previously...we brought home Hudler.
