I had a urine analysis test on my dog (6.5 months) conducted. His specific gravity was somewhat low (1.016). Which pretty much means his kidney is working but not optimally, not a good thing. Depending on where you read it, it should be greater then 1.023 on average for a normal dog. Anything less than 1.012 is flat out bad.

He asked I take another sample from his first urine of the day and bring it in, so I did. He ran the test and it was at 1.060. Completley normal kidney function!!! I am very happy!

The tip is, if you think you need to bring in urine for any UTI, bladder infections, and so on...try to get an appointment first thing in the morning and use the first movement of the day...
